DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is one of the hair transplantation procedures and is a derivative of the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method.
What is DHI Hair Transplantation?
DHI hair transplantation is a method in which Grafts are directly implanted into the transplantation area using a special pen with a micro cross-cut. In this method, instead of pre-opened small channels, the Grafts are placed directly into the area to be transplanted using the implant pen. DHI offers a more precise and controlled approach during the hair transplantation process. The DHI Technique aims to recover faster and also it doesn’t form so many scabs like FUE.
Stages of DHI
DHI hair transplantation is carried out in the following steps:
- Donor Area Preparation: In the first step, the Grafts are mostly taken from the back head area. This area is where the Grafts are more dense and usually have permanent hair.
There are 3 main donor areas where Grafts are collected. These are:
- Back head area: This can be described as the area between the two ears of back of head.
- Beard area: This is the area under the chin.
- Chest area: These are resorted to if the desired number of the Grafts cannot be obtained from the back head and beard area. The chest area is the most prominent body donor area.
- Examination of The Grafts: The Grafts that are collected are examined under a microscope by the hair transplantation specialist. Hair roots are classified appropriately and prepared for transplantation.
- Preparation of the Implantation Area: In the DHI method, no channels are previously opened in the area to be transplanted. Instead, a special implant pen is used. This pen has a thin needle specially designed for transplantation.
- Implantation of Grafts: Using the implant pen, the Grafts are directly implanted into the transplantation area. With this method, the Grafts are directly implanted into the transplantation area using the implant pen without making incisions in the skin.
